Winning the USA National Championship

It’s been a few months since winning the USA National Championship, and I’m still in disbelief. I’ve tried to write a story or post several times, but the words just aren’t coming out right.

Let me just say that I am beyond grateful to have won this competition. I won the ESPN year-end title exactly 20 years ago (almost to the date). To still be on top 20 years later is not lost on me.

Thank you to everyone who helped me reach this point. I dedicated my run to my friend and mentor, Hiro Tsuchida, who suddenly and unexpectedly passed away a few years ago.

This means the world to me, and I will never be able to put how I feel into words.

Below are some photos and videos of the event.
